Testimonials
Here are a few comments Darren's clients have made, he is very proud of what they have achieved and continue to achieve, so keep up the good work. Don't just take their word for it though experience the results for yourself.
Boot Camp
Antony Iredale (33) & Jules Carey (36)
"My wife and I began the Boot Camp back in August 2010 with the
aim of
shedding a few pounds before our marriage in NZ in January 2011. To be honest,
I was skeptical as I have always hated going to the gym and therefore never
been able to keep going for a sustained period. But, boot camp has been a
revelation. Sure, rolling out of bed at 6.30am three times a week is a shock to
the system but once you are ten minutes into the session the cob webs are well
and truly brushed off! Working in a group is a lot of fun and you do squeeze
that extra 15% out as you do not want to quit when everyone around you is
giving their all. I have genuinely never been fitter in my life! The truest
testament to the effect of boot camp though is that my wife and I have both
decided to return for the long haul after getting married. We are both even
more focused than before we left. I just jumped from level 8 to level 10 on the
bleep test; I could hardly believe it myself."
Cherie Ford (30)
"I joined boot camp in February 2011 with the aim
to shed the extra pounds I had managed to collect over winter and it has
been the best thing I have ever done. It is amazing how quick my
level of fitness has changed and the results that I can see in my body.
Boot camp is definitely the best way to tone up and get fit and Darren is
always on hand to give advice and keep pushing you to the next level.
There is no way I would push myself like I do in these classes if I was at a
gym on my own. I recently hiked up Mt Snowdon and my partner was very
impressed as I lead full steam up the mountain not huffing and puffing like I
normally do! I can't recommend these classes enough."
Janine Gould (29)
"I attended Darren's Boot Camp for two months in 2010
Jeremy
Nye (48)
and have never
done anything as great for myself as this. The boot camp was really challenging
and effective but most of all it was enjoyable. Darren's a great motivator, not
a bully but encouraging and supportive. He really knows his stuff from
nutrition through to technique. Attending boot camp coupled with a sensible
eating plan meant that I lost about 8 kgs over the two months as well as a huge
increase in my confidence, motivation and energy. He told me that 'you get
out what you put in' and for me this was definitely true. Most importantly I've
now gained the know how to keep up my own training and fitness. If you really
want to do something great for yourself, do this. It is well worth the money."
"Darren's morning workouts are always
exhilarating - challenging at times, but never painful. As well as
knowing hundreds of ways to push the body into profitable new areas, Darren has
an encyclopedic knowledge of the muscles, which he happily shares while you use
them. It's a clever balance of building stamina, strength and
flexibility, and carefully calibrated to the needs of individuals. I feel
so much fitter, but also much smarter about what is happening when I exercise,
and why it works. I can do loads of things I couldn't before I started
attending his 'bootcamps'. He also encourages a friendly and supportive
atmosphere among a lovely group of fellow-exercisers." Hayley (27)
"Since joining bootcamp with Darren I have noticed
a definite improvement in my level of fitness. Bootcamp was great
preparation for my recent ski trip where I felt I could ski longer and tackle
the harder runs. The sessions are very well organised and Darren pays
close individual attention to ensuring that we are completing all the exercises
accurately (something that is difficult to find in a gym setting). The
sessions are challenging and I have pushed myself and achieved more than what I
thought I could do. Darren's enthusiasm for fitness is infectious!!"
Nandi Simpson (37)
"If you want to be fitter, stronger and leaner, do this! Darren is a serious sports training professional who explains the "why" as well as the "how" of exercises so that you get the most out of them. The mixed programme means it is easy to keep motivation up, and impressively, Darren manages to keep tabs on each individuals performance throughout the course, helping you to push yourself and attain your goals. Hard work with good humour for fabulous results, I cannot recommend this "class" highly enough. I Can't tell you what a difference all this hardcore boot camp action has made to my skiing this winter. I have spent all day, every day tearing up the pistes, with not a single ache!"
Helen Barrett (32)
"I joined Darren's Boot Camp class last spring in a last
ditch attempt to
get more toned & fit for my summer wedding. Week 1 was a bit grueling
and the early morning something I'm not used to but I soon became hooked!
The class is really varied which is great because we don't get bored.
Darren has also been really patient and helpful with some physical
problems I have from a previous injury, tweaking my exercises during the group
sessions. So what started as a get fit challenge for last summer has now
become part of my weekly fitness regime, so much so I've cancelled my other gym
membership."
Personal Training
Kevin Moorhouse (49) "I've now been
training with Darren for over a year and have lost one and a half stone
and feel fit and strong. Darren has helped me to switch to a far more
healthy lifestyle that has given me more energy and put a real bounce in
my step! I would recommend anyone who wants to lose weight and/ or to
get fitter to sign up now. I highly recommend him as a
personal trainer."
Hannah Bill (31) "I begun a
course of weekly personal training sessions with Darren 10 weeks before
my wedding. I had recently come back from working in a ski resort, and
wanted to lose 6kg by my wedding date. Darren was fantastic throughout
the whole 10 weeks, and with his help I managed to get to my goal!
After spending some time understanding what I wanted to achieve he
designed a program for me, and gave me loads of advice about how to
train specifically to get the results I was after. He also gave me some
great nutritional advice, and above all kept my motivation up
throughout the whole 10 weeks. The sessions were focused and fun, and I
truly would not have reached my goal without his help!! Thanks
Darren!!!!"
Jim Marshall (49)
"I have worked
with Darren over the last 6 months and while I am not sure I can say I
have "enjoyed" the experience, I have benefited enormously from his
encouragement, enthusiasm and constant urging to do "just a few more"
While I might not share Darren's definition of "fun" his sense of humour
and belief that I can do more than I think I can has made gym
attendance much more enjoyable. I would recommend Darren as a personal
trainer to anyone. Just avoid the burpees!!"
Liz Spencer (52)
"I fully expected not to last the course with Darren - because of my own misconceptions about personal trainers! He has got me doing things I thought I'd never do but that's because he's encouraging and supportive. I wanted to feel fitter but particularly to become more toned. I've worked with him for nearly a year now and am very pleased with the results. I recommend him highly. If this all sounds too good ...he does have a bad point - he can't count! seriously, when you're asked to do 15 repetitions and you think you've done 13, he'll say "that was number 11....." - but maybe that's why his results are so good!"
Sports Therapy
Karen Johnson (51)
"I have known Darren for 5 years. We first met at a gym, where he was my personal trainer who specialised in rehab. I had just had my first knee operation and Darren helped me to walk again and to get my general personal fitness back which was sorely lacking. He has since helped me through four more knee operations. The most recent being bi-lateral knee replacements last July. His sessions are fun and are always tailored to suit my needs and interests. It is only through his professionalism, dedication and commitment that I am walking today. I can highly recommend him to anyone as a rehab specialist or personal trainer."
Adam Ben Rabha (28)
"I was snowboarding semi professionally and competing
nationally when I ruptured my ACL. I had reconstructive surgery using a Patella graft, and found the post operative support given by the NHS to be inadequate so I came to Darren to supplement my recovery. He came up with a comprehensive training plan to safely return me to exercise and high impact use. He was very supportive when I became frustrated by my impatience with the recovery process. He offered massage to aid and speed up the tissue repair and one to one exercise sessions to teach me the proper motions and technique required for an effective rehabilitation. The sessions were very challenging and he fully understood my goals of being able to be active without compromising my future fitness. His sessions were very reasonably priced for the amount of benefits I gained from them. I recommend Darren to all my friends and anyone who wants to return to fitness, quickly, effectively and safely."
Massage Therapy
Mattias Karlberg (33)
"Training, nutrition and health is a very important part of
my life. It's not always easy to combine working in the city with a passion of lifting heavy weights, and the combination is definitely not ideal! I work on average 11 hours a day, sitting down in front of a computer. In order to keep making progress in my training I know how crucial it is that my muscles (especially in my back and shoulders) are in a good condition and without minor injuries, strains or knots before my heavy gym session. In the past, I kept on getting small injuries even though I was very careful with my warm up and using proper technique. My anterior deltoids for example was a very problematic area, but I also got small strains in other areas of my body as well as clicking and popping sounds while doing some exercises. I was recommended by a friend in the gym to have a sports massage to loosen up the muscles in my back. I hadn't really had any problems with my back but thought it was worth giving it a try. As I previously knew Daz I asked him for an appointment."
"This is more than an year ago and I still go and see Daz for a couple of session a month. It really helps to loosen up some of my soreness and problems mainly around my shoulder blades, traps, lats and my lower back. As soon as I feel any kind of pain in my muscles I try to see Daz for a session to figure out where the pain is coming from. As soon as I feel any soreness in my shoulder doing bench press, I know I need to see Daz for a deep tissue sports massage around my shoulder joint. As he knows my body so well now, he finds the problematic area very quickly so we can use the massage session as efficiently as possible. I also find the massage a very good way of reducing muscle soreness before it develops into an injury. The massages include some good stretches which helps to increase my flexibility as well. Even though it costs a bit of money to have a massage it really helps, I feel much better sitting at work and definitely helps me improve in the gym!"
"For the past 6 months, Daz has also helped me with my caliper readings so that I can keep a close eye on my fat percentage. Even though anyone theoretically could do this, I think it's extremely important that someone who has a good knowledge of my body and someone who takes it very seriously performs this task."
